CM Architect

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • The CM-A shall be able to quickly understand and master the requirements of the local state and federal jurisdictions and the requirements of each in relation to this Project.
  • The CM-A shall posses the knowledge of Construction Contract Documents including Front End and Technical Specifications and Drawings to readily understand and assess the requirements.
  • The CM-A must have the skillset and a working knowledge of engineering services, building codes, budgeting and scheduling to lead to the project’s success.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of the Uniform Building Code (UBC), Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), The Americans with Disability Act (ADA), OSHA and ASTM standards.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of commercial hospital construction.
  • Knowledge of planning and conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.
  • Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for the structural contract modifications.
  • Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract requirements and industry standards.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of building, safety, and environmental codes.
  • Working knowledge of environmental, civil, safety, architectural and structural fields.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products by applying knowledge of computer literacy
  • Ability to exercise good interpersonal skills

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a design architect (10 years’ experience strongly preferred)
  • Medical facility design experience
  • Bachelor degree in architecture or related field
  • A working knowledge of the Uniform Building Code (UBC), Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), The Americans with Disability Act (ADA), OSHA and ASTM standards.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledgeable with CPM scheduling. Experienced with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project is preferred
  • Experience working with governmental agencies at the city, county and state levels
  • Knowledgeable in construction testing and inspection requirements
  • Experience working in hospitals or medical facilities

 

Working Conditions

Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment.  Office to field time is approximately 25% to 75% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required.
