Fluids Engineer (Aerospace Space experience preferred)

Core Accountabilities and Essential Functions • Develop critical fluid subsystems including hydrogen storage and distribution and hydraulic controls for launch and recovery from design through operations (requirements formulation, iterative design process, first article builds, qualification, acceptance, production integration, continuous improvements, and preventative maintenance programs). • Utilize the full spectrum of iterative development, rapid prototyping, design, analysis, test, and manufacturing techniques to create efficient equipment. • Lead design reviews internally and participate in reviews with colleagues and suppliers. • Contribute to the overall design of launch and recovery equipment incorporating disciplines in fluid flow and controls into design, and integration. • Perform due diligence analysis on designs including requirements review, hand calculations, in a rapid and iterative development environment. • Ownership of product delivery timeline through conception, design, testing, integration, launch and recovery. • Work closely with the entire Launch and Recovery team to ensure a seamless integration with launch and recovery systems. • Exemplify technical excellence and accountability for all work.

 

Required Education and Experience • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in Aerospace, Mechanical or Naval Engineering. • A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in Fluid design and analysis in a full cycle design engineering role. • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on project experience with complex fluid systems, preferably as a sub system lead.

 

Required Qualifications • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, demanding, start-up environment with multiple projects and deadlines with a dynamic and collaborative team. • Skill and eagerness to develop ideas and bring them to life. • Willingness and ability to work long hours and weekends as needed. • Demonstrated understanding of analysis and failure modes of complex fluid mechanical systems. • Hands-on project experience, preferably as a team or sub-team lead. • Experience working on projects that involve the integration and problem solving of electrical, mechanical, and software systems. • Exceptional written and verbal communication with an emphasis on interpersonal and organizational skills. • Must have a passion for hands-on work including equipment assembly, flight operations, and maintenance. • Strong safety record and mindset, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical tests and operations. • Ability to work offshore on maritime vessels supporting launch and recovery operations. • Strong knowledge of and experience with: o Conducting detailed fluid and thermal analyses o Sizing at the system and component level o Compressible and incompressible flow o Fluid controls and associated hardware

 

Desired Additional Qualifications • Experience with fluid controls equipment working in harsh environments. • Knowledge and/or experience in the marine industry, fielding shipboard systems and associated technologies. • Experience designing ground support equipment
