Windows/Linux Systems Administrator

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This individual is responsible for monitoring, configuration, and maintenance of the company’s IT systems in accordance with industry best practices. Knowledge of Dell, HP and Cisco hardware, virtual appliances, Linux, Microsoft server & client OS is required. This individual will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining of data backups.

 

SPECIAL TRAINING NEEDED:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or information technology and/or 3 years equivalent experience working in an information technology department.
  • CompTIA, VMware, Microsoft or Cisco certification preferred.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including: Windows 7/10/11 Professional; Windows Server 2008-2019; Linux CentOS.
  • Extensive support experience with: Microsoft Exchange Server; Microsoft SQL Server 2005-2019; Server Virtualization using VMware / ESXi.
  • Working technical knowledge of current equipment, protocols, and standards, including: Cisco UCS; SAN Solutions; Backups; Endpoint Protection; VoIP systems; TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS; Routing, DNS, VLANS and Subnetting.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:

  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for installations, including data, voice, and video systems.
  • Conduct research on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend for purchase of hardware and software products.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products.
  • Configure and maintain physical and virtual servers, including e-mail, print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Configure and maintain security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, and/or e-mails regarding system problems.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex network problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware and software solutions, including off-site repair.
  • Maintain Windows and Linux servers, including Exchange, DHCP, DNS, Web Services, Certificates, IIS, NVR, Backup, Security and IPS.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.
