Superintendent (Field) (Healthcare Construction exp is a must)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Field Superintendent provides leadership and direction on smaller projects or in the field. He/she strives to continuous improvement in their areas of responsibility through teamwork, sharing personal knowledge and experience and personal growth through active learning.

 

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Lead in accordance with OUR policies and procedures and priorities within project contract.
  • Plan & set up an efficient jobsite layout.
  • Plan & establish flow of work activities on the project. Coordinate all field activities.
  • Direct or aid in development of an overall project schedule.
  • If required, implement & lead interim scheduling meeting.
  • If required, arrange for & schedule inspections by government officials and consultants.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly jobsite, utilizing 5s.
  • If required, prequalify and hire all field labor.
  • If required, review & evaluate all subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.
  • If required, review & manage cost reports & projections.
  • Uphold our Drug, Alcohol & Harassment policies.
  • Uphold OSHA regulations and OUR Safety Program.
  • Maintain daily logs to document all jobsite activities & events.
  • Implement & maintain quality control & life safety checkout procedures.
  • Positions managed by this role are: MEP Coordinators, Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, Field Engineers, Safety Engineers, Foremen, Field Assistants, Field Office Assistants, Project Assistants, Jobsite Assistants, and all craft persons.
  • This position may also manage: Asst. Project Manager, Project Manager.
  • Lead in accordance with OUR Policies & Procedures & any applicable state and federal laws.
  • Interview & hire those under your management; plan, assign & direct work; address complaints & resolve issues.

  • Maintain client and designer relations.
  • Maintain a working relationship with project development team.
  • Address job obstacles that are discussed in scheduling meetings.
  • Ensure project is progressing in accordance with overall schedule and contract time requirements.
  • Provide jobsite leadership & direction on smaller or less complex projects, or in the field reporting to the Project Superintendent on larger projects.
  • Lead all field operations of trade partners for effectiveness & efficiency.
  • Lead all OUR jobsite field management & labor team to succeed at their job activities.
  • Train those under your leadership.
  • Participate in training opportunities.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • Preferably, a degree in Building Science, Construction Management or Civil Engineering. A degree can be substituted with experience.
  • Must have 10+ years of construction experience and/or training. Specifically, having experience in healthcare construction is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze & interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions & procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports & correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before all project team members.
  • Ability to calculate figures & amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference & volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra & geometry.
  • Use of basic reasoning & to resolve issues quickly with little or no direction.
  • Ability to interpret variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.
  • Preferably have OSHA 30 Hour certification. If not current, receive within first year & keep current.
  • Knowledge of all facets of ground up Healthcare Construction/New Renovation.
  • Ability to frequently stand; walk; use hands to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands & arms.
  • Ability to occasionally climb or balance and stoop or kneel.
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs, frequently lift/move up to 100lbs.
  • Good distance and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to regularly work in outside weather conditions.
  • Ability to frequently work near moving mechanical parts; occasionally work in high, precarious places and exposed to wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly works in outside weather conditions. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally works in high, precarious places and occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions.
  • The noise level is usually moderate to high.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Required to climb or balance and stoop and kneel.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
