Hudson, MA - Contracted to Full Time
Set-up and perform a wide variety of mechanical and visual inspections, to close tolerances, on highly diversified and complex parts and/or assemblies. Perform visual inspections of welds and magnetic particle inspection of both welds and finished parts. High degree of customer and government representatives contacts.
Make own inspection set-up and determine inspection methods. Notify manufacturing / assembly when non-conforming conditions are detected. Request corrective action; monitor output to assess effectiveness of corrective action. Make record of inspection results and originate related inspection reports as prescribed by procedure. Utilize statistical quality control techniques such as X and R charts, machine and process capability analyses, and selection and utilization of appropriate sampling plans. Review data for quality trend evaluation. Notify supervisor when action is needed.
Perform final product and assembly inspections and tests.
Perform first piece inspection for very complicated parts. Assure that vendor items comply with specifications and certifications.
Use a complete range of mechanical inspection equipment such as CMM machine, micrometer, height stand, surface plate, thread and plug gauges, hardness tester, optical comparator, gauge blocks and plating thickness gauge. Recommend new or improved inspection equipment and more efficient and economical inspection methods.
