Evaluations Lab Technician

ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT

 Test Services outdoor weathering site in Homestead, FL

ACCOUNTABILITY

This position reports to the Evaluations Supervisor for Test Services

JOB SUMMARY

Performs all related evaluation services, visual inspections, and measurements other than certain specific mechanical tests. Prepare all digital photographs for customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review daily work schedule for workload and prioritize evaluations

Evaluate new tests when necessary

Prepare specimen surface for evaluation through masking, washing and/or polishing

Sign off of daily work schedule and test logs as work is completed

Record and initial all evaluation results in test reports

Photograph specimens or defects, as necessary

Complete all requirements for proficiency testing evaluations

Other duties as required or necessary

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a degree of manual dexterity, ability to work with tools, and moderate computer literacy. Must be able to read and understand complex test instructions.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Must be able to work well with others. High degree of cooperation is required among all technicians.  Position requires strong interaction with the test check-in technician, data entry clerk and registration clerk.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves a large amount of time in the laboratory and some limited time outside in the field. Must be able to lift moderately heavy or awkward sized objects.  

NEEDED ATTRIBUTES

Requires high attention to detail. Have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions without cutting corners.  Must be able to prioritize workflow to fit the needs of the laboratory.
