Mechanical Engineer

Reports To: Director of Product Development

Principal Duties:

● Brainstorm potential solutions for customer problems based on insights

● Collaborate with team members on suggested technical approaches for projects

● Manage large scale projects and programs

● Mentor other engineers through sharing of experience

● Responsible for form, fit, and function of designs and their cost breakdowns

● Design, build, and test prototypes

● Design, develop, and utilize test methods to qualify products for customer use

● Provide manufacturing and production support for new products and continuous improvement of existing products

● Manage technical documentation of key project decisions and design changes

● Integrate with marketing teams to support tasks such as: ○ Product performance testing, marketing claims, packaging, and literature

Required Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Training:

● B.S. or higher in Engineering/Design or equivalent work experience

● Broad and extensive experience in various manufacturing disciplines

● Solid experience with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor a plus)

● 5-7 years experience on a consumer product engineering team, with a focus on quality, reliability, and commercialization

● Heavy project management experience required

● Extensive experience with supplier management

● Effective organization and communication skills and superior attention to detail

● Ability to work independently and in team environments

● Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

● Mathematical skills (calculations, analysis, spreadsheets)

● FMEA, DFSS, and lean manufacturing experience a plus
