Job Title: Implementation Support Engineer 

Job Description:

As an Implementation Support Engineer with expertise in physical network topologies, you will play a critical role in implementing and supporting network infrastructure solutions. You will work closely with clients, network engineers, and cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and troubleshoot physical network components such as switches, cables, routers, and other networking equipment. Your in-depth knowledge of network architecture and physical connectivity will ensure the successful implementation and operation of network solutions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Network Infrastructure Design: Collaborate with clients, network architects, and engineers to design physical network topologies based on business requirements and industry best practices. Determine the placement and configuration of switches, cables, routers, and other network components.

  2. Network Deployment: Assist in the deployment and installation of network infrastructure, ensuring proper connectivity, cabling, and equipment placement. Collaborate with field technicians and other stakeholders to coordinate network implementation activities.

  3. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity, performance, and hardware failures. Utilize troubleshooting tools and techniques to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions.

  4. Network Configuration: Configure and optimize network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls. Ensure proper configuration of VLANs, routing protocols, security settings, and other network parameters.

  5. Network Documentation: Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including physical network diagrams, equipment inventories, and configuration details. Ensure that network documentation is up to date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

  6. Network Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Implement network monitoring tools and perform regular network performance analysis. Identify bottlenecks, congestion, or other performance issues and recommend improvements to enhance network efficiency.

  7. Change Management: Collaborate with change management teams to plan and implement network changes, including device upgrades, firmware updates, and configuration modifications. Follow change management processes and minimize disruptions during change implementation.

  8. Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, warranty support, and maintenance services. Ensure effective communication and collaboration with vendors to address issues and ensure timely resolution.

  9. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of network infrastructure. Share knowledge, best practices, and technical expertise with team members to enhance overall network capabilities.

  10. Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce network security measures, including access controls, firewall rules, and intrusion detection systems. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to network infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Proven experience in network implementation and support roles, with a focus on physical network topologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of network architecture, physical connectivity, and components such as switches, cables, routers, and other networking equipment.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, VLANs, and security principles.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, SNMP, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with network configuration and management tools (e.g., Cisco IOS, Junos, etc.).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve network issues effectively.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills, with attention to detail in maintaining accurate network documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
