Roadway Engineer (Fully Remote)
Remote - Full Time
Salary: $90,000 - 150,000/year.
This position is fully remote / work from home.
We are seeking a senior level Project Engineer to add to their growing Highways Team in North Carolina. The successful candidate will be able to report to any of our North Carolina Offices, and will be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. They will also act as a technical advisor to less experienced engineers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope
- Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
- Perform design computations
- Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction
- Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
- Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
- Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
- Prepare proposals as required
- Attend meetings with clients
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
- 5-10 years’ experience in highway design and engineering
- Professional Engineer License required
- Experience working with the DOT required
- Experience working with local clients at the county and state level preferred
